A letter from the owner
Hello and welcome to Hot Pepper Books! As a student myself, I have to admit I understood very little about how a college bookstore ran and found myself feeling short changed. Like many students without a great deal of financial aid, I worked very hard for the dollars spent on my engineering books and expected a much better return at the end of each semester.
Later in life I worked for several college bookstores and learned the business inside and out. I learned it so well, in fact, that I earned the opportunity to run a small chain of stores very successfully. The keystone to our success was simple: give students as much as you can for their books and provide whatever alternatives you can.
After several years, a LOT of fun and considerable growth my stores were sold to a large corporation who didn't believe in the same philosophy. I tried my best to conform and do what I was told, but my 18 years of experience just wouldn't let me believe in what I was doing.
After parting ways, I decided I still loved books and wanted to be involved in an alternative. So began Hot Pepper Book Company and my 4th career, for which I am THRILLED!
